Relive the awesomeness of TransparencyCamp 2016

It’s been a little while since we’ve packed up Wallace the robot, dismantled The Wall and stowed every last bit of swag from our annual opengov unconference, TransparencyCamp — but we’re still feeling inspired by our community’s commitment, enthusiasm and drive for a more accountable democracy.

This year’s TransparencyCamp was a little bit different, as we traded the marble columns of D.C. for the shores of Lake Erie in Cleveland, Ohio, focusing this year’s event on state and local issues. But it still brought together folks of all different backgrounds to share their knowledge, think up new ideas and create unique tools — all with the goal of making government more open and keeping our communities more engaged.

Whether it was a crowded session room, a quick chat by the coffee hub or one of the engaging lightning talks, the level of dialogue and debate about open data and transparency at this year’s TCamp was expansive and inclusive — and it was all made possible by you! Unconferences truly are fueled by the attendees, and we couldn’t have asked for a more passionate and dedicated group to champion the cause of opengov.

With those memories still buzzing through our heads, we wanted to share some things that will help all of you relive the awesomeness of TCamp16. (Or, if you couldn’t make it, see what you missed!)

  • Peruse our gargantuan TCamp16 Flickr album — Day 1 here, or Day 2 here — hundreds of photos that captured the moments from a wild day of unconferencing.
  • Or enjoy the highlights with our TCamp16 Storify — a winding, slightly crazy journey composed of your own tweets, pictures and experiences. (Also seen below.)
  • And make sure to keep in touch with your fellow campers by following our TCamp16 Twitter list.

Enjoy! If you’d like to keep the conversation going or share updates on projects that came out of TransparencyCamp, check out the #TCamp16 hashtag on Twitter. Lastly, a huge thanks to the Cleveland Public Library for hosting us, LeanDog for an amazing happy hour on their Lake Erie office barge and all of our sponsors for helping make TCamp16 a reality: Amazon Web Services, BeeKeeper Group, the Cleveland Foundation, Microsoft and Socrata.
