Daily Disclosures

A roundup of what we’re noticing in the Reporting Group as we dig into government data and disclosures:

Only $874,265 to go! Tea Party-supporting Americans for Prosperity, a 501(c)4 organization and affiliate of Koch brothers-funded Americans for Prosperity Foundation, has released some information on its donors: They got $1,000 from the Chicago Tea Patriots. Americans for Prosperity has spent $875,265 on electioneering in the 2010 mid-term.

Up up and away: Dick Morris’ Super PAC for America venture has started spending money — $269,000 opposing three Democrats running for the House in Arizona.

By the numbers: $315 million spent so far by all outside groups–party committees, PACs, Super PACs, Labor Unions and non-profits, of which $270 million identify the candidate being supported or opposed. Biggest slice: Right-leaning outside groups have spent $68 million attacking Democratic candidates. Second biggest slice? Democratic party committees have spent $63 million attacking Republican candidates.

Badge man: Office of the Palm Beach County Sheriff has hired Greenberg Traurig LLP to lobby on “issues related to the county’s Intergovernmental Service Agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.” Here’s a google web cache of the ICE press release announcing the agreement. The county has faced budget problems this year.

The Daily Poligraft: Cut and paste the list of corporate integrity agreements–required by the Inspector General of Health and Human Services to settle investigations of health care providers and other entities–into Poligraft and see the politically active companies.

Media straining: Public relations firm Fleishman-Hillard hired by Office of the President of the Republic of Nigeria (currently occupied by Goodluck Jonathan) to provide PR services. Media training seems to be an issue: “The client has asked whether FH would consider hiring a media trainer that previously worked with President Jonathan. We’ve discussed this internally, and in order to ensure that the President is trained for the NY media environment, FH would be more comfortable using our senior media trainer. Please let us know how to best address.”

Sunlight CAM: Americans for Tax Reform running an ad in Michigan.

Typo? Alaskans Standing Together refiles FEC report and says “Lisa Murkowski’s name was supposed to appear on the line that referred to which candidate our group was supporting. Barbara Donatelli, the treasurer of Alaskans Standing Together, is the one that was supposed to sign it. Apparently as the form was being filled out there were problems with the FEC site losing the information so the process had to be repeated multiple times to finally get the filing uploaded and in that process the error was made.” We pointed out the error here. Alaskans Standing Together did not respond to our email inquiry or call.

Today’s Politiwidget: Rep. Dan Lungren, R-Calif., has his own ideas for campaign finance reform, the Sacramento Bee reports. Lungren has been targeted by a campaign finance reform group for his fundraising practices. He’s the subject of today’s Politiwidget:
