Back in October we announced that to celebrate our 100th GitHub project we’d be giving away a Kindle (or Gift Certificate) to say thanks to one lucky contributor to our Open Source projects.

If you find yourself with a bit of extra time during this holiday season and want to help make government more transparent please take some time to contribute to one of our 100+ open source projects. In order to be eligible be sure to fill out the entry form.

We’ve gotten a lot of great contributions this year, here’s a subset of what has happened so far to help inspire you:

• Rob Rasmussen contributed a maine.gov scraper for the National Data Catalog.
• Chuck Harmston wrote a Python wrapper for the OpenCongress API
• Tyler Breisacher contributed to our Congress for Android application
• Rob Hudson, Greg Taylor, and Peter Sanchez have helped with improvements to django-mediasync
• Adam Jensen has contributed to our Congress API data, adding committee scrapers.
• A number of developers, including Brandon Lewis and Tim Freund, have started the work required to get new states live in the Open State Project.

We’ll be doing the drawing the first week of January, so if you’ve already contributed this year make sure you fill out the entry form.
