Sen. McConnell's disgraceful drive for secrecy

Mr. Nixon’s role in the Watergate political scandal cost him the presidency, threatened the stability of the government and ushered in sweeping political reforms. These are reforms which Sen. McConnell seems determined to dismantle, dismissing them as an “overreaction.” That’s why he’s fighting the Disclose Act of 2012, a measure pending in the Senate to require groups to reveal identities of those who donate $10,000 or more [...] Sen. McConnell’s single-minded drive for secrecy is the true threat in this debate. Congress and the public should not be fooled by his supposed passion for the First Amendment and take steps to shine light on the dark money.
