Accountability needed in election spending

Republican and Democrats have once again put partisan politics above what would be better for citizens and taxpayers [...] the primary issue in the DISCLOSE Act, which we admit is not perfect, is transparency in government. “The people of Michigan deserve to know who is behind out-of-state groups running multimillion dollar ad campaigns in our state,” said U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, a Michigan Democrat. “There ought to be accountability in election spending so people know who is trying to sway their vote.” That only seems reasonable.
