WASHINGTON, DC - This morning, the Sunlight Labs launched a new resource for iPhone users which could revolutionize the way that users of Apple's popular app phone can access and interact with information about Congress. The Real Time Congress application is a fast and free way to access real-time congressional activity, meetings and documents right at users' fingertips.

"Our goal is to change the way that citizens collect useful information about and interact with their government," said Clay Johnson, director of the Sunlight Labs. "iPhone users will be able to see critical reports and memos as they are published online by the Congressional Budget Office, policy committees and the Office of Management and Budget."

Users can receive live updates from the House and Senate floor and can receive daily and weekly whip notices so they can keep up to date on when legislation will be voted on. Users will have access to hearing schedules so they can see what issues are being taken up in House and Senate committees as well as key research from sources like the Government Accountability Office and Congressional Research Service.

The Real Time Congress application for iPhone will keep journalists, Hill staffers, bloggers and interested citizens up to date on what is happening in Congress, in real-time. The release of the iPhone app comes after the successful launch of the Sunlight Labs application for Android enabled phones, which has been downloaded over 5,800 times since its release two weeks ago.
