WASHINGTON, DC –In response to the recent commitment by the incoming presidential administration to increase government transparency, the Sunlight Foundation created Transparency Jobs to aggregate all the employment opportunities for transparency-related careers.
Transparency Jobs features opportunities from both the US federal government and non-government organizations.
“President-elect Obama called on Americans to get ready to work to address the challenges that tomorrow will bring, and one of those challenges is to change the culture in Washington by making the inner workings of our government transparent,” said Ellen Miller, executive director and co-founder of the Sunlight Foundation. “Sunlight created Transparency Jobs to help connect those who want to dedicate their careers to opening up Washington with the opportunities that currently exist. We hope to make it a vital resource.”
Current employment opportunities highlighted on Transparency Jobs range from the Law Librarian of Congress and the Staff Director at the Federal Election Commission to Webmaster at Common Cause. Anyone can submit a post to the site, but all listings are moderated by Sunlight staff.
The Sunlight Foundation supports, develops and deploys new Internet technologies to make information about Congress and the federal government more accessible to the American people. Through its projects and grant-making, Sunlight serves as a catalyst to create greater political transparency and to foster more openness and accountability in government.
