Alena Stern is a fellow at the Sunlight Foundation on the Open Cities Team. This summer, she is conducting research that combines econometric analysis and machine learning to investigate the relationship between open data policy and public-records requests.
She is currently pursuing her Master’s of Science in Computational Analysis and Public Policy at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. Prior to enrolling at Harris, Alena was a Senior Program Manager at AidData where she led a USAID-funded program to promote data transparency and use in international-development efforts around the world. She completed her BA in International Relations and Economics at the College of William and Mary.
