Emily Ward

Emily Ward received her Masters in Library and Information Science in the spring of 2014 from Louisiana State University where she concentrated on archival management.  Since then, she has held the position of digital archivist for the East Baton Rouge Parish Library Special Collections department.  During her time with the Special Collections department, she has focused on making collections more accessible through the use of content management systems and collaborations with local, regional and international consortia and has also implemented digital preservation policies to meet the demands of an increasing presence of born digital materials in archival acquisitions.  Emily, on behalf of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, is also a cohort member of the 2-year Community Webs Project (https://archive-it.org/blog/projects/community-webs/) funded by the Internet Archive and IMLS to educate and support local librarians in the creation of local history web archives.  She has presented at a number of regional and national conferences on the topic and plans to continue doing so in the final year of the project (2019).  Emily will serve as the chair of the Web Archiving Section of the Society of American Archivists for the 2019-2020 year, and currently serves as the section’s vice chair.
