Sam Shapiro

Open Cities Fellow

Sam is a fellow on the Open Cities team, and a current MPP candidate at the Harris School of Public Policy. This summer he is researching human-centered design tools that can help local-government officials cater open data sets to the needs of residents. The research underlies a project to build a toolkit that will include an actionable set of best practices to help city staff develop user personas for open data, as well as a library of existing open-data user personas.

Sam launched and directed the Student-Led Initiatives community-engagement program at Al-Quds Bard College in the West Bank, and has a BA in philosophy from Bard College.
