Tax Lobbyists Start Facebook Group

While President Obama’s call for disclosure of lobbying contacts in the State of the Union was met by Congress with a mix of sarcasm, dis-ingenuousness, and some open minds, his targeting of lobbyists who work on the tax code was met by those lobbyists with a chuckle and a some social media fun.

According to Roll Call:

It seems that every lobbying interest in the country had a response to the State of the Union address, but none quite as creative as John Kelly’s.

Kelly, a tax lobbyist with Cornerstone Government Affairs, found himself inspired when President Barack Obama said, “Over the years, a parade of lobbyists has rigged the tax code to benefit particular companies and industries.”

He decided Wednesday to start a closed Facebook group called, what else, Parade of Tax Lobbyists.

“You know who you are! Let’s have a parade! Or a beer!” the Facebook page states. “No purpose to this group other than to have a little fun.”

The group currently boasts 40 members including lobbyists from some of the top lobbying firms in Washington. You can see them all here.
