- Federal contractors for Romney: Federal contractors have donated more than $1.2 million to the pro-Mitt Romney super PAC Restore Our Future. The contributors work for companies that hold more than $244 million in federal business. (The Hill)
- Cantor denies super PAC ties: House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is working hard to untangle the knots connecting him to two super PACs. The YG Action fund is run by two of his former top aides and he donated $25,000 to the Campaign for Primary Accountability, but he has distanced himself from the actions of both groups in recent statements. (Politico)
Government
- Issa shedding light on IG vacancies? Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, is holding a hearing on ten vacant Inspector General positions around the federal government after the GSA IG exposed fraud and abuse in the agency. (Washington Post)
- A Wolf at the door: Last month, Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) introduced the Foreign Lobbying Reform Act, which would prevent high ranking government officials, including members of congress and ambassadors, from lobbying for foreign governments for a decade after leaving office. (POGO)
International
- Moving the OGP forward: Following the first annual meeting of the Open Government Partnership in Brazilia, there are several steps that can be taken to move the partnership forward. (Global Integrity)
- Uphill climb to transparency in India: Many instances of major corruption, costing the Indian government billions of dollars, have been exposed in the past few years. The Indian public has shown frustrating, but the government and private sector have not taken action to become more accountable. (Transparency International)
