TransparencyCamp, lovingly referred to as TCamp, is a community event for those working or interested in open government, accountability, and transparency. This year’s Camp is co-hosted by the George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs and will be held the weekend of May 4 - 5, 2013 at the University’s Marvin Center.

For the last five years, we've gathered together a variety of journalists, policy creators, technologists, concerned citizens, academics, watchdogs, and others to build community, share best practices, and problem-solve challenges to work in the transparency arena. Last year, we hosted over 400 people from over 30 countries and 26 US states. This year, we’re expecting around 500 participants with even more participation from attendees across the country and abroad.
As an unconference, TCamp is a unique experience where attendees set most of the schedule and lead the workshops and sessions themselves. The concept can sound intimidating, but don’t let that stop you. Every year, we have a mixture of first-time unconference-ers and veterans, and the Camp is better for it.
(Still nervous? You can learn more about unconferences on the TransparencyCamp website.)
We know travel can be a barrier to participation, so in the coming days, we’ll share more information about our travel scholarship program for folks trekking from across the US. (For those attending from overseas, we offer similar support through Sunlight ‘s International Program.)
Plus, lunch is provided by DC’s awesome food trucks.
The people are the most important part of TCamp! Help us make TransparencyCamp 2013 the best TCamp yet by registering today!
