A couple of days ago North Carolina State Rep. Drew Saunders (D-Mecklenberg) stated his support for “an amendment to the legislative ethics bill that lowers the monetary threshold on gifts lawmakers may receive from neighbors and state employees” by saying this:

“Even baby Jesus accepted gifts and I don’t believe it corrupted him.”
