Senators on super committee collecting less campaign cash this quarter
All but one Senate member on the super committee collected less campaign funds this quarter compared the previous quarter. Only Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, had a modest increase collecting a total of $85,532.
So far in this election cycle, Portman has raised $53,000 from individuals and $106,000 from PACs. Here's a compilation of all of recent PAC donations to Portman’s election committee.
Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash, raised $30,654 in the third quarter of the year; that is 85% less than she raised in the second quarter. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass raised $16,135 this quarter, an 82% decrease from the previous quarter.
Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., raised 71% less money compared to last quarter, taking in $139,341.00 and Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., decreased his fundraising by 64%. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., also decreased his campaign fundraising by 32%, taking in $249,205 in the third quarter.
As we reported in the past, two super committee members in the House increased their contributions significantly. Rep. Van Hollen, D-Md., a super committee member doubled his campaign cash intake over last quarter, collecting $153,278 for the third quarter. Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas raised, $471,259 a 32% increase from the previous quarter.
