Sunlight on Read the Bill
Aug. 20, 2012, 2:40 a.m.
The 72 Hour Rule is an idea championed by the Sunlight Foundation that calls on legislation to be available to the public online for 72 hours prior to a final vote in the House or Senate. Many members of Congress have supported this rule, but it has yet to be codified in its full form.
The Sunlight Foundation launched Read the Bill in February 2009 and has more than 20,000 citizens have signed the petition.
