Sunlight on Super Committee
Aug. 20, 2012, 2:40 a.m.
The “Budget Control Act of 2011” legislation created a Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction of 12 members of Congress (nicknamed the “Super Committee”), who have been given the enormous power to suggest how to cut at least $1.2 trillion dollars from the national debt.
The Sunlight Foundation raised concerns over the transparency of the process and partnered with organizations and citizens who are calling on Congress to improve the requirements for this special committee.
