Sunlight’s Hiring!

Does government secrecy get your hackles up? Do you think citizens ought to know what’s going on with and have a role in our democratic process? And that it’s government’s responsibility to provide the data we need to make careful and thoughtful decisions. If so, then we have a job for you.

Here at Sunlight we’re seeking a senior-level manager to oversee all of our engagement, outreach and communications activity. “Engagement Director” is the position’s title, and  this person will in effect act as a “campaign manager for government transparency,” managing our overall communications efforts and being responsible for our public outreach, communications, and online fund raising.

The number one criteria is that we are looking for someone who has a passion for expanding transparency in government. We want someone who really knows how to work both new and traditional media, has experience growing and mobilizing grassroots supporters, experience in creating and managing online membership and someone who can execute a multi-faceted communications campaign. Go to Transparency Jobs for more details.

We envision a day in the life of our Engagement Director to be exciting and challenging. It  will include developing and iterating strategy, taking advantage of daily opportunities to advance our advocacy, managing our press team, providing overall direction for Web content, building and managing our online email, Web and social media campaigns, and working with colleagues on a team dedicated to bringing more openness and transparency to government.

You may or may not already know Sunlight’s work but if you know anything  about us you know that you will join and help lead an already existing accomplished and dedicate group in communications, technology, investigations, advocacy, and training as well as join a community of partners who are leaders in open government initiatives.

It’s a very exciting time for the open and transparent government movement. Check out Transparency Jobs for all the details. And we hope to hear from you.
