This Thursday, April 15th is Sunlight’s tax day fundraiser for the Public=Online Campaign.  Thanks to everyone who supports open government we have reached many milestones since the campaign launched less than a month ago.  We are about to surpass 2,000 pledge signers (with a special thank you to our 1776th signer!), well on our way to our month goal of 5,000. 

If you are in the DC area please come support the Public=Online Campaign at the Tabaq Bistro from 7pm to 11pm.  We hope to spark similar events around the country to raise support and awareness for open government so that this time next year when we file our returns we may get a receipt for our tax dollars.

The event will open with DJ Bluementhol (and open bar) and is being graciously co-hosted and headlined by Finn Riggins. So come and show your support and have a drink! Or three.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Cover fee includes open bar from 7pm to 8pm and one raffle ticket that will give you the chance to win over $1,000 in prizes.  Each additional raffle ticket is $5 or get 3 tickets for $10.  Prizes include a one night stay at the L’Enfant Plaza Hotel, T-shirts (with event graphic), Finn Riggins CDs, a Keurig Commercial Coffee Maker, a ticket to the Personal Democracy Forum and various gift certificates from local area businesses. Among the most desirable prizes are chances to throw a pie at Sunlight’s Jake Brewer and Brad Bauman. We will announce the winners of the raffle at the end of the evening.  There will also be a secret prize that we will announce at the raffle drawing.

All of your donations will be 100% matched by the Omidyar Network so you’ll be doubling your impact.

We are all stewards of our government and while we will not get a receipt this year, by working together, next year we might!
