Former Rep. John Tanner (D-TN) has joined Prime Policy Group, a top Washington lobbying firm. According to Roll Call:
The move reunites Tanner with his former chief of staff, Vickie Walling, who is a managing director at Prime Policy Group.
Tanner was widely viewed as one of the top prospects for K Street when he announced in December that he was retiring from Congress after 11 terms. Headhunters and hiring partners at firms speculated that he could command a salary north of $1 million, although Prime Policy Group did not disclose the terms of his deal.
Tanner will have to wait one year before he can officially lobby, but will be able to consult and provide lobbying advice and connections to the team at Prime Policy, which holds big name clients like Wal-Mart and AT&T.
