Charleston Daily Mail: “Charleston finance executive Charlie Capito has joined Wells Fargo Advisors as manager of the company’s offices in Charleston, Huntington, Parkersburg and Beckley. … Capito comes to Wells Fargo from United Bank Inc., where he had served as executive vice president and director of business development since 2009. … Wells Fargo Advisors is the investment arm of Wells Fargo & Co., one of the 20 largest corporations in America.”

The Hill: “A consumer watchdog group is pressuring Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) to announce her husband’s new position with Wells Fargo when a subcommittee she chairs considers legislation to alter a key piece of the Wall Street reform law. … Capito’s subcommittee on the House Financial Services Committee will weigh three bills Wednesday that would change the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) created by last year’s Dodd-Frank financial reform law. But the group Public Citizen is demanding she disclose her husband’s job at the outset of the markup.”

LOBBYIST ASHCROFT NEW BLACKWATER ETHICS CHIEF

Wired: “The consortium in charge of restructuring the world’s most infamous private security firm just added a new chief in charge of keeping the company on the straight and narrow. Yes, John Ashcroft, the former attorney general, is now an “independent director” of Xe Services, formerly known as Blackwater. … Ashcroft will head Xe’s new “subcommittee on governance,” its backers announced early Wednesday in a statement, an entity designed to “maximize governance, compliance and accountability” and “promote the highest degrees of ethics and professionalism within the private security industry.”
