Support Free Access to Publicly-Funded Research

The federal government spends over $60 billion annually on research, but the resulting scientific articles are often only available behind a very expensive pay wall. This limits the value of the work by restricting who has access to it.

The Sunlight Foundation agrees with this petition from open access advocates who argue that free access over the Internet should be provided to journal articles resulting from taxpayer-funded research.

This video below explains the issue in more detail. Encourage the White House to implement open access policies for all federal agencies that support scientific research by signing this petition.
