Sunlight Foundation earns a four-star rating from Charity Navigator
Sunlight President Chris Gates celebrates the news with our operations team: Lindsay Jacks, Scott Wells and Christopher Scott!

We are proud to announce that Sunlight has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for the fourth year in a row, the highest rating available.

At Sunlight, making government and politics more accountable and transparent is at the core of everything we do. While we work everyday to make this a reality, we know how important it is to practice what you preach. We are dedicated to ensuring our funding sources are publicly available and that our financials are setting an example for transparency within an organization.

Charity Navigator works to guide intelligent giving by rating tens of thousands of nonprofit organizations on financial health and transparency. This allows donors to rest assured that their support will have the greatest impact possible, so it’s an honor to have been given the highest rating possible by a fellow watchdog organization — especially given that only 8 percent of the groups Charity Navigator rates have received at least four consecutive 4-star evaluations.

As a nonprofit, we rely upon grants and donations to enable our passion and advance our mission. It’s all possible because of the generosity and help of our donors and friends, so thank you! Whether you’re a current or future donor, we want you to know that your donation is going directly to support Sunlight’s mission to advance open data and open government. We hope you will consider making a tax deductible donation today.
