TransparencyCamp is an “unconference” where hundreds of people gather together each year to share their knowledge about how to make our government work better for people and how to empower people to connect with government. We’ll talk with each other about open government, and open data and how technology can help move us all forward. But mostly, we’ll talk about what YOU want to talk about. TransparencyCamp lets you make the call.
As an “unconference”, TransparencyCamp honors the important contributions that each and every attendee brings to the sessions, workshops and conversations that make up this event. Attendees (yes, all of them) help create the schedule for the conference and are encouraged to step up and lead sessions themselves. The Sunlight Foundation started TransparencyCamp in 2009. Since then, the event has grown dramatically in scope, scale and concept. In 2016, we’re hosting our first ever TCamp focused exclusively on state and local governance. That’s not the only first this year – we were also excited to join friends in Amsterdam in June for the European Union’s first TCamp! For a roundup of our past camps, check out our Past Camps page
TCamp generates amazing results, including some big name projects such as Code for America,CityCamp and CrisisCommons in the U.S. and Transparência Hacker in Brazil. At TCamp, everyone has an equal voice, equal power to shape the agenda and equal opportunity to be heard. That’s why many of TCamp’s greatest achievements occur at the individual level: Attendees leave with new insight and inspiration for their work, concrete plans to improve their communities, and new connections and friendships that help build the network of people working for greater government transparency. We hope to see you soon at TCamp!
